Max Pay Rate: INC: $96.11/hr | T4: $79.43/hr
Develop Commissioning Plans, coordinate testing/commissioning, and ensure outages, personnel, and documentation are in place to execute the test programs for infrastructure projects in the Lower Mainland.
Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
Develop safe engineering solutions through design development, problem-solving, and interpretation of engineering specifications for medium-complexity projects.
Support project objectives related to safety, cost, quality, and schedule by recommending design changes, coordinating schedules, and preparing documentation.
Resolve complex technical and field engineering problems through independent analysis and sound judgment.
Contribute to engineering standards, provide mentorship to junior engineers, and support professional practice development.
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) in BC or eligible for registration.
Intermediate proficiency in English (spoken and written).
Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards.
Proficient with standard design/analysis software and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to sign and seal documents digitally (e.g., via Notarius) may be required.
Experience with electrical utility substation design (12kV–500kV) and utility-based engineering solutions.
Familiarity with capital projects, emergency replacements, restoration work, asset management, and owner’s engineer reviews.
Prepare technical documentation (evaluations, specifications, estimates, design bases, hazard logs, test plans).
Prepare design work packages, sealed engineering deliverables, and provide technical field support.
Perform engineering calculations for electrical systems: short-circuit, ampacity, cable design, lighting, voltage drop, etc.
Design responsibilities may include:
Ground grids
Site layout and equipment clearance
Building designs (control, feeder, compressor)
Electrical equipment support structures
Develop and manage multi-disciplinary commissioning test plans and requirements.
Coordinate and lead testing/commissioning activities, ensuring outages, people, and documentation are ready for execution.
Provide technical expertise to resolve field issues by bringing together design engineers and contractors.
Oversee technical aspects of commissioning for new electrical and P&C equipment including switchgear, transformers, unit control, comms networks, instrumentation, and protective relaying.
Provide support to field testers and technologists, and perform field reviews for installations and modifications.
Conduct first-level QA to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and accepted practices.
Prepare/review inspection and test plans for FAT and SAT; ensure documentation and witness points are managed properly.
Coordinate resolution of non-compliance issues in the field and document construction activities for final reporting.
Strong problem-solving and consensus-building abilities.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and technical writing.
Experience managing project scope, schedule, and cost.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and manage resources.
Experience in fault analysis, field testing practices, and system integration testing is an asset.
