Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior T-SQL Database Developer to join our growing team. This is a high-visibility project involving a critical Chemical Management Platform. You will be stepping into an extremely large, established codebase to help our existing team of two developers manage a heavy workload, build out an array of new features, and significantly improve system documentation.

This role is ideal for a self-starting engineer who thrives in a database-driven environment and focuses on quality, ownership, and team impact rather than just the bottom line.

Key Responsibilities

• Database Development: Devote 100% of your focus to core database development, writing clean, highly optimized T-SQL code, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Codebase Ownership & Documentation: Dive confidently into a massive, complex existing codebase. Legacy system comprehension is key; you will actively work to untangle, optimize, and drastically improve the platform's documentation.
• Feature Delivery: Collaborate with the team to design, develop, and deploy quite a few major new features to meet evolving business needs.
• Cloud Migration: Assist in a critical "lift and shift" initiative migrating our on-premises Windows and SQL Servers over to AWS.
• Agile Collaboration: Fully participate as an active member of a tight-knit Scrum team—reading, refining, and executing user stories out of JIRA.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Experience: 5 to 10+ years of dedicated experience in heavy SQL Server / T-SQL database development.
• Expert T-SQL Knowledge: Mastery of Microsoft SQL Server, complex queries, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and database design.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with AWS and migrating legacy Windows/SQL Servers into a cloud environment ("lift and shift").
• Large Codebase Navigation: Proven track record of walking into massive, poorly documented legacy environments and successfully mapping, documenting, and improving them.
• Agile Proficiency: Solid experience working within a fast-paced Scrum environment using JIRA for story tracking.
