About the Role

Mojo Trek is a trusted custom software delivery firm building the revenue-generating and customer-facing systems that high-growth companies depend on to grow. Our client is building a world-class digital platform spanning mobile, web, cloud, and distributed computing systems, designed to improve productivity, profitability, and safety and help communities and economies grow sustainably. We are looking for a Scala Developer with Akka data streaming experience to join the team building this platform.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services in Scala and Java 17 for the client's distributed platform.
• Develop and optimize Akka-based data streaming pipelines using Akka Streams, Typed Actors (Stash, Singleton, Cluster), Akka Persistence, and Akka HTTP.
• Build and expose RESTful web services consumed across the platform's mobile, web, and cloud applications.
• Leverage AWS services, including IAM, Kinesis, DynamoDB, the API stack, SQS, SNS, and KMS, to deliver scalable, highly available solutions.
• Write and maintain Slick-based SQL queries against the platform's data stores.
• Support CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps (ADO) and contribute to architecture decisions for reliable, high-availability systems.

What You'll Need (Required)

• Strong Java 17 experience.
• Backend development experience.
• 6-10 years of Scala programming experience.
• 2+ years of significant Akka data streaming experience, including Akka Streams, Akka Typed Actors (Stash, Singleton, Cluster), Akka Persistence, and Akka HTTP.
• Experience building RESTful web services.
• AWS knowledge: IAM, Kinesis, DynamoDB, API stack, SQS, SNS, KMS.
• Experience with Slick for SQL queries.
• DevOps experience, including pipeline familiarity (we use ADO).
• Experience delivering high-availability and reliable solutions.
• Some architecture experience.
