The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Specialist designs, builds, and supports AI-driven solutions that improve operational efficiency, enhance member and employee experiences, and expand automation across the Credit Union. This role focuses on applying practical AI technologies—including intelligent automation, generative AI, and conversational AI—to solve real business problems.

This individual will work closely with business and technology teams to identify opportunities for AI adoption, develop solutions such as chatbots and automated workflows, and ensure AI systems are reliable, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI and machine learning solutions that streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain automation workflows using generative AI, natural language processing (NLP), and process automation tools.
  • Evaluate and implement AI models that support decision-making, data classification, and improved member engagement.
  • Monitor AI model performance and maintain documentation to ensure reliability, compliance, and ongoing optimization.
  • Serve as the functional administrator for chatbot platforms, managing day-to-day operations and system performance.
  • Design and maintain conversational workflows that provide clear, helpful interactions for members and employees.
  • Continuously train and refine chatbot language models using usage insights and feedback.
  • Partner with business units to identify and implement AI use cases that deliver measurable business value.
  • Collaborate with IT, Marketing, and Member Experience teams to integrate AI capabilities across systems and customer touchpoints.
  • Work with data engineers and analysts to ensure seamless integration of AI solutions into enterprise platforms.
  • Ensure AI solutions follow established data governance, security, and compliance standards.
  • Support the organization’s AI governance framework and responsible AI practices.
  • Research emerging AI technologies and recommend tools or methods that improve productivity and service delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience developing or managing AI, automation, or data-driven solutions.
  • Experience implementing or managing chatbot platforms (e.g., Microsoft Power Virtual Agents, Intercom, Boost.ai, or similar).
  • Experience with chatbot design, workflow automation, or applied machine learning preferred.
  • Financial services or credit union experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of formal education.
  • Strong understanding of AI concepts including natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, and automation frameworks.
  • Experience with AI tools and development frameworks such as Python, Azure AI, OpenAI API, TensorFlow, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security standards, and responsible AI practices.
  • Proficiency with common business tools including Microsoft Office and collaboration platforms.
  • Ability to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and ethical AI practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on identifying opportunities for improvement through automation and AI.
