We are seeking a Senior Cloud Data Architect to assist our client in modernizing their Operational Data Store (ODS). The existing on-premise ODS is transitioning to a cloud-based solution, and this role is crucial in creating a strategic roadmap for this modernization. Expertise in data warehouse, Data Lake, Oracle Abeyta, and Oracle Boomi is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze current on-prem ODS architecture, data models, integration processes, and access controls to identify migration challenges.
• Evaluate cloud platforms to determine the best fit for LANL’s operational and technical needs.
• Design a scalable, secure, and efficient cloud-based ODS architecture, following best practices for data storage and integration.
• Ensure data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance throughout migration and in the cloud environment.
• Develop a detailed migration plan to transition data to the cloud with minimal downtime and data integrity.
• Optimize the performance and scalability of the cloud-based ODS to meet current and future needs.
• Collaborate with LANL’s technical teams and stakeholders to define strategy, architecture, and implementation framework for cloud transition.

Required Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience in data architecture, with expertise in cloud-based data solutions, data management, and modernization.
• Extensive experience in designing scalable data architectures for operational data stores (ODS) on both on-premise and cloud-based platforms.
• Strong proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), data warehousing, and related services.
• Proven ability to design and execute complex data migration strategies ensuring security, integrity, and minimal downtime.
• Expertise in database performance tuning and optimization for high-transaction environments.
• Solid knowledge of database technologies, including AWS, Oracle Exadata, SQL, and Oracle Boomi.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Q clearance is a plus but not mandatory.
