Our client creates software that is used in over 7,000 stores that depend on the technology to ensure consumers and businesses alike can order and operate efficiently. The Sr Database Engineer will provide technical oversight of cloud based databases and integration to development teams, lead various new initiatives for research and development of Cloud Native database solutions within digital technology, and lead during the design, development, testing and implementation of programs/solutions for integration into the company's infrastructure.


RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as a functional liason between IT groups and business partners, communicate and collaborate with multiple IT functions such as Digital, Security, and Infrastructure.
• Own technical design and be responsible for the successful transition of development projects into production from a database perspective.
• Work closely with our platform engineers to ensure implementations are automated and scalable. Lead heavily in the migration of digital technologies to GCP and the globalization of the digital platform. 
• Work closely with operations and software engineering teams to design and implement scalable and high-performance solutions for our platform as a service and internal management tools. 
• Define monitoring requirements and implement automated incident resolution solutions. 
• Ensure DBE best practices are followed and implemented with an automation first mindset. 
• Actively identifies solutions and process improvements leading to decreased costs or improved execution.  
• Solves complex issues for projects/solutions that are assigned. Supports ongoing maintenance of business needs as necessary. 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related IT field 
• 6+ years in IT related activities with emphasis on system design, security, system administration, and networking 
• Knowledge of IT system concepts, operational procedures, operating systems, training procedures and processes, departmental functions and strong computer applications experience.   
• Ability to identify technical and security issues and collaborate with Security teams and vendors to provide and deploy remediation options. 
• Leading cross-functional teams and communicating with peers and upper management.   
• Strong communication, organization, planning, leadership and management skills. Comfortable with presenting to all levels of management.  
• Flexibility working in a fast pace changing environment, quick learner.
