As they continue to grow, they are
seeking an experienced Construction Accounting Manager to manage financial operations, oversee billing, and support their team as they continue to grow their business.
Position Summary:
The Construction Accounting Manager will manage the financial activities for various projects and divisions. The role requires strong leadership, financial analysis, and budgeting skills.
You will oversee accounts payable (AP), billing, contract management, and monthly financial reporting by department.
Additionally, the Construction Accounting Manager will
collaborate with project managers and bookkeepers to ensure accurate financial oversight of ongoing projects and completed jobs. Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports by department and quarterly financial comparisons to previous years. Analyze project profitability and provide insight into variances.
- Billing and Accounts Receivable (AR): Manage and produce bills for all commercial projects, repair work, and purchase order (P.O.) work. Ensure accurate billing processes for projects ranging from $50K to $400K.
- Accounts Payable (AP): Oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring timely payment of all contractors and suppliers.
- Contract Management: Administer and manage contracts, subcontracts, and change orders. Ensure financial compliance with contractual obligations, while maintaining a focus on budgeting and cost tracking.
- Project Costing: Collaborate with project managers and estimators to monitor job costs and ensure they align with project budgets. Generate financial reports for ongoing and completed projects.
- Leadership: Supervise and guide accounting staff, including bookkeepers, in financial processes and reporting. Assist with the development and implementation of efficient accounting practices.
- Collaboration with Operations: Work closely with the operations team, including estimators and commercial project managers, to ensure financial reporting accuracy and support for construction operations.
- Subcontractor and Vendor Relations: Manage subcontractor payments and ensure timely and accurate payments for contracted services. Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in construction accounting, with a solid background in managing financial operations for subcontractors or commercial contractors.
- Experience handling accounts payable, billing, and contracts in a construction environment.
- Proven ability to manage financials for projects ranging from $50K to $400K in scope.
- Proficiency in Timberline Software (or similar construction accounting software).
- Strong understanding of project costing, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and mentor accounting staff.
- Ability to collaborate with estimators, project managers, and other operational teams.
- Background in handling commercial projects, particularly for fencing and construction around schools, government entities, and commercial client
- The company handles projects in both Las Vegas and Pahrump, with a growing commercial division.
- The company manages a portfolio of real estate and operates under multiple LLCs, adding an additional layer of financial management complexity.
- The team consists of 57 employees, including two estimators and commercial project managers who handle projects up to $6-7 million annually.
