Job Description
The role: Executive Assistant to the CEO
Location: San Francisco, CA | Hybrid 3 days onsite
Compensation: $140,000 - $160,000 base salary DOE + benefits
An early-stage AI company is seeking an exceptional Executive Assistant to partner closely with its CEO and founder. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is energized by smart people, big ideas, and the pace of building something from the ground up.
The founder is deeply thoughtful, intellectually curious, and ambitious about what the company can become, while maintaining a grounded and genuinely human approach to leadership. The environment is cerebral and fast-moving, with exposure to some of the most interesting questions emerging in technology today. This role will be a great fit for an EA who enjoys being surrounded by people who love to think, build, and learn
About the RoleThe Executive Assistant will serve as a close partner to the CEO, bringing structure and clarity to an increasingly complex schedule while helping the founder stay focused on the highest-impact priorities.
This goes beyond calendar management. Youll develop a strong understanding of the CEOs priorities, relationships, and working style and use that context to anticipate needs, exercise judgment, and make thoughtful decisions on their behalf. As an early member of the team, there will also be opportunities to contribute to projects and operational initiatives as the company grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Own a dynamic and highly fluid executive calendar, thoughtfully balancing internal priorities, external relationships, and focused work
- Manage complex scheduling, meeting preparation, travel, and logistics for the CEO
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for investors, candidates, advisors, partners, and other key relationships
- Stay several steps ahead of the CEO, anticipating conflicts, priorities, and needs before they become urgent
- Create structure around a fast-moving flow of information, decisions, follow-ups, and commitments
- Partner closely with the CEO to protect their time and ensure attention is directed toward the companys most important priorities
- Support occasional special projects, company initiatives, and operational needs as the organization scales
- Handle highly confidential and sensitive information with exceptional judgment and discretion
Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience supporting a founder, CEO, or senior executive in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptionally organized with strong instincts around prioritization and time management
- Intellectually curious and genuinely enjoys working around highly analytical, cerebral people
- Comfortable operating in an early-stage environment where priorities can evolve quickly
- Able to absorb context, connect dots, and make sound judgment calls without needing extensive direction
- Warm, professional and highly emotionally intelligent, with the ability to build trust across a wide range of personalities
- Low ego and naturally willing to jump between the strategic and the practical
- Energized by being an indispensable partner behind the scenes rather than needing rigidly defined lanes
- Interested in technology and AI, but does not need to be an AI expert coming into the role
