Overview
We are hiring multiple senior SAP S/4 Release and Cutover Management professionals to support a large-scale, multi-year S/4HANA transformation program within a complex Aerospace & Defense (A&D) environment.
The program includes:
- Migration from SAP ECC and legacy systems to S/4HANA
- End-to-end process scope across Finance (FIN), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Manufacturing (MFG), and Supply Chain (SCM)
- Support for Engineer-to-Order (ETO) operations, including aircraft, defense systems, and MRO
Resources will support parallel release tracks, including:
- New design/build releases
- Cutover and deployment events
- Post-go-live sustainment and continuous enhancement cycles
All roles are remote (U.S.-based) and require U.S. Citizenship due to ITAR and data sensitivity constraints.
Role Tiers
Tier 1: SAP S/4 Release & Cutover Management Lead (Program-Level)
Role Summary
Provides end-to-end leadership of release strategy, governance, and cutover execution across one or more major S/4 program waves. Acts as the primary integrator across business, functional, and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Own full release lifecycle delivery aligned to SAP S/4 transformation roadmap
- Define and lead cutover strategy, including:
- Deployment sequencing
- Environment and data readiness
- Business transition planning
- Serve as primary stakeholder interface for release customers and executive leadership
- Drive cross-functional orchestration across value streams (FIN/P2P/MFG/ SCM)
- Lead:
- Go-live readiness assessments and go/no-go governance
- Risk, issue, and dependency management
- Executive-level reporting and steering committee updates
- Ensure alignment across:
- Design/Build
- Integration & Testing
- Deployment & Hypercare
- Institutionalize release standards, playbooks, and lessons learned
Methodology & Tools Expectations
- Deep experience with SAP Activate (or hybrid Agile/Waterfall delivery models)
- Strong familiarity with:
- Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe) for incremental release delivery
- Phase-gated governance for large ERP programs
- Hands-on experience with tools such as:
- Jira / Azure DevOps (backlog, dependency, and release tracking)
- SAP Solution Manager or SAP Cloud ALM
- Integrated test management tools (e.g., Tricentis Tosca)
- Experience managing:
- Cutover runbooks and playbooks
- Environment landscapes and transport management
- Data migration cycles and validation checkpoints
Typical Profile
- 10–15+ years of SAP delivery experience
- Proven leadership in S/4HANA transformation programs
- Expertise in cutover planning and enterprise release governance
- Experience in complex manufacturing / A&D environments strongly preferred
Tier 2: SAP S/4 Release Manager / Cutover Manager (Delivery-Level)
Role Summary
Leads execution of specific release waves, functional domains, or deployment increments, ensuring alignment between requirements, build progress, testing, and deployment readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day release execution for assigned S/4 scope
- Coordinate:
- Cutover plans, task tracking, and execution readiness
- Integration and UAT cycles
- Deployment readiness activities
- Partner with:
- Functional leads (FIN, P2P, MFG, SCM)
- Technical teams (integration, data, BASIS)
- Track and manage:
- Dependencies across teams and systems
- Risks, issues, and mitigation plans
- Support:
- Business communication and stakeholder alignment
- Release documentation and reporting
- Contribute to continuous improvement of release processes
Methodology & Tools Expectations
- Working knowledge of SAP Activate and Agile delivery models
- Experience using:
- Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools for tracking release progress
- Test management and defect tracking tools
- SAP Solution Manager or SAP Cloud ALM
- Familiarity with:
- Cutover task management and scheduling tools
- Data migration and reconciliation processes
- Release reporting dashboards and KPIs
Typical Profile
- 7–12 years SAP experience
- Experience supporting S/4 or large ECC transformation releases
- Strong coordination across functional and technical teams
- Experience in integration-heavy environments
