Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer – Underground Mining

What You'll Do:

  • Lead complex underground mining geomechanics projects, providing strategic direction and technical excellence.
  • Conduct advanced geotechnical numerical modeling using state-of-the-art software tools.
  • Design and oversee underground field investigations, ground control strategies, and geotechnical monitoring programs.
  • Review, interpret, and communicate geotechnical data effectively, ensuring integration into mine planning and design.
  • Mentor and support a talented team of geomechanics professionals, fostering technical growth and leadership skills.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring project goals align closely with operational and safety objectives.
  • Prepare proposals, scope definitions, scheduling, and budget estimates to facilitate successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geotechnical considerations into comprehensive mine designs.
  • Travel to domestic and international mine sites as required, actively engaging in fieldwork and client interactions.

What You Bring:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Geological, Geotechnical, Geomechanics, Rock Mechanics, Mining, or Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in underground mining geomechanics.
  • Expertise in geotechnical numerical modeling, including at least 5 years using specialized mining geotechnical codes.
  • Solid operational experience in underground mining environments, with extensive knowledge of mining methods and ground control practices.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading successful underground field investigations and interpreting geotechnical data.
  • Excellent English communication skills; proficiency in French and/or Spanish would be an asset.
  • Eligible for professional registration with a Canadian engineering association.
  • Proven ability in business development, including client engagement and project management.
  • Hydrogeology experience is considered an asset.
