Vice President, Human Resources

Our client is seeking a Vice President of Human Resources to lead global HR strategy, talent acquisition, organizational development, and compliance across international operations. This executive role is ideal for an experienced HR leader with a deep understanding of mining workforce dynamics, union relations, and leadership development. The VP will play a critical role in shaping a high-performance culture and ensuring HR strategies align with business objectives.

What You’ll Do

HR Strategy & Organizational Leadership
  • Develop and implement a global HR strategy that aligns with business goals and expansion plans.
  • Lead workforce planning and organizational design to ensure optimal business performance.
  • Drive cultural transformation initiatives that enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Ensure compliance with global labor laws, MSHA/OSHA regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Partner with executive leadership to support M&A workforce integration and change management.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
  • Build and implement strategic talent acquisition plans to attract top industry talent.
  • Oversee recruitment efforts across corporate, technical, and mine site operations.
  • Develop employer branding strategies to position the company as a top employer in the mining industry.
  • Enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within hiring and workforce development.
  • Manage workforce forecasting and succession planning for key leadership and technical roles.
Organizational Development & Employee Engagement
  • Design and implement leadership development programs to upskill talent.
  • Foster a learning culture by driving training programs for technical skills, leadership, and compliance.
  • Lead career development initiatives to support employee growth and internal mobility.
  • Build a high-performance culture by strengthening performance management frameworks.
  • Improve employee engagement through recognition programs, surveys, and feedback mechanisms.
HR Generalist Functions & Compliance
  • Oversee compensation structures, benefits programs, and incentive plans.
  • Manage labor relations, including union negotiations and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures support business needs while maintaining compliance.
  • Implement HR technology and analytics to improve efficiency and decision-making.
  • Direct expatriate programs and global mobility for international assignments.

Projects You Might Work On

  • Scaling recruitment operations to support business expansion.
  • Launching leadership development programs tailored for mining operations.
  • Enhancing talent retention strategies for remote and international sites.
  • Implementing new HR systems to streamline processes and analytics.
  • Leading cultural transformation initiatives to improve engagement and performance.

What You Bring

  • 15+ years of progressive HR leadership, with mining industry experience required.
  • Strong expertise in HR generalist functions, including talent management, compensation, and compliance.
  • Experience leading HR in both corporate and remote site environments.
  • Proven success in talent acquisition, workforce planning, and leadership development.
  • Expertise in labor relations, union negotiations, and international HR practices.
  • Bilingual in Portuguese or Spanish is a plus.
