Job Description

Vice President of Technology

Our client is seeking a hands-on and strategic Vice President of Technology to drive innovation in mineral extraction and waste valorization. This leader will develop cutting-edge processes for recovering valuable materials from industrial byproducts while managing R&D and process optimization. The ideal candidate is a "roll up the sleeves" engineer with a strong blend of technical expertise and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technology development for extracting value from industrial waste streams.
  • Oversee process improvements in hydrometallurgical, physical separation, and other extraction techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with clients at various levels, bridging technical and business discussions.
  • Manage a research facility, ensuring excellence in lab operations and project scalability.
  • Partner with universities and technology providers to advance extraction methodologies.
  • Provide expertise across multiple processing techniques—without needing mastery in all areas.
  • Lead with a servant-leader mentality, guiding teams while staying involved in hands-on problem-solving.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives, creating innovative solutions for waste valorization.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 15+ years in mineral processing, chemical engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong balance of engineering IQ and EQ, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Experience leading R&D initiatives and scaling technologies.
  • Exposure to various processing techniques, with pyrometallurgy knowledge being less critical.
  • Comfortable working in both strategic leadership and hands-on execution roles.

Potential Projects:

  • Developing novel extraction processes for tailings and industrial waste.
  • Scaling pilot technologies for commercial production.
  • Implementing innovative separation techniques for critical materials recovery.
  • Partnering with universities on cutting-edge research.

We understand no candidate will meet every single desired qualification. If your experience looks a little different from what we’ve identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we’d love to learn more about you!
