Job Description

Maintenance Manager
Location: Fly-in/Fly-out from AL or FL to Colombia, South America

Our client—an industry leader in responsible coal production—is seeking a seasoned Maintenance Manager to help shape the future of one of the world’s largest open-pit mining operations. This key role not only ensures world-class performance across mobile and fixed assets, but also positions the right candidate for succession into the Vice President of Maintenance role.

Why This Role Matters
You’ll be stepping into a highly visible position that reports directly to the VP of Maintenance, helping drive strategy and execution across a fleet of complex equipment and infrastructure. It’s more than operations—it’s about continuous improvement, safety leadership, and building systems that scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead day-to-day maintenance operations for both mobile and fixed equipment.

  • Track and analyze performance KPIs with a focus on safety, cost, and productivity.

  • Collaborate with contractors and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment.

  • Participate in high-level planning, including budget preparation and capital allocation.

  • Maintain a consistent, visible presence in the field—connecting strategy with execution.

  • Align all practices with international safety (OHSAS 45001) and environmental (ISO 14001) standards.

Strategic Initiatives You’ll Shape

  • Implementing condition-based and predictive maintenance systems.

  • Overseeing major capital maintenance projects.

  • Redesigning maintenance infrastructure for new technologies and processes.

  • Driving cost-reduction and efficiency programs across the board.

What You Bring

  • 15+ years of leadership experience in mine maintenance (surface or underground).

  • Proven success managing safety, environmental compliance, and team performance.

  • Expertise in scheduled, predictive, and condition-based maintenance.

  • Strong, hands-on leadership with a record of building high-performance teams.

Rotation, Travel, and Support

  • Rotation: 5 days on/Mon-Fri (Colombia) /2 days off

  • Travel: Private flights from 2 locations (AL & FL)

  • Support: On-site housing and meals included.

  • Relocation: Assistance to Birmingham available—or self-commute to airport.

This Is More Than a Maintenance Role
It’s a chance to influence operations at scale, step into a VP track role, and lead a team at the forefront of mining maintenance. If your background aligns and you’re ready to take that next step, we’d love to hear your story—even if your path looks a bit different.
