Vice President – Technical Services

Our client, a global leader in the mining and energy sector, is seeking a visionary Vice President – Technical Services to lead their Technical Services teams in Colombia. Reporting directly to the Vice President – Mining Operations, this role is pivotal in driving innovation, efficiency, and environmental stewardship across their extensive mining infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Advance a culture of safety and enforce compliance with stringent safety protocols and local regulations.
  • Lead efforts in OHSAS 45001 and ISO 14001 standard implementation.

Environmental Management

  • Ensure compliance with Colombian environmental regulations, including biodiversity and compensation initiatives.
  • Lead the execution of carbon neutrality plans and conservation programs.
  • Manage permitting processes and coordinate technical environmental studies.

Engineering Leadership

  • Oversee mine planning, forecasting, and design processes.
  • Drive technology integration through survey data, drone usage, and machine control.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and blasting coordination.

Training and Development

  • Manage and expand a state-of-the-art training facility, providing advanced educational resources for employees.

Team Leadership

  • Cultivate a collaborative and growth-oriented environment while mentoring a skilled workforce.
  • Foster relationships with internal teams, external regulators, and community stakeholders.

Potential Projects You Could Work On

  • Designing and implementing innovative mine planning systems to boost efficiency.
  • Leading biodiversity conservation initiatives in partnership with local communities and NGOs.
  • Driving the development of advanced training programs using simulation technologies.
  • Spearheading new sustainability efforts, including carbon neutrality and environmental restoration.
  • Coordinating state-of-the-art technology applications, such as drone-assisted surveying.

What You Bring

  • A degree in Mining, Civil, or Environmental Engineering or a related science field.
  • 15+ years of leadership experience in mining, particularly in mine planning and environmental management.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to manage technical teams, complex projects, and regulatory reporting.
  • Spanish proficiency or a willingness to learn.
