Position: Mill Manager

Location: Northeastern United States 

Our client, a leading mining company, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mill Manager to oversee its underground zinc mining operations in the scenic Northeastern United States. This strategic location offers easy access to beautiful landscapes, as well as vibrant urban centers.

The Mill Manager will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing production levels, managing the mill and lab teams, and ensuring smooth operations that align with the company's high standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.  Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Team Management: Supervise and support the mill supervisor, lead millwright, laboratory technicians, and other mill personnel, fostering a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.
  • Production Monitoring and Improvement: Oversee mill processes, ensuring high levels of productivity and identifying opportunities for process optimization to increase output and efficiency.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Manage quality assurance and quality control for both the assay lab and mill operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and accuracy in all outputs.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with Mine and Shaft Departments to align efforts, reduce downtime, and maximize operational efficiency throughout the site.
  • Maintenance Planning and Troubleshooting: Lead maintenance planning for mill equipment, proactively identifying and resolving any issues that could disrupt production.
  • Inventory and Metallurgical Accounting: Maintain chemical inventories and oversee material accounting, ensuring proper storage and handling of concentrates, ore tanks, and other critical resources.
  • Budget and Financial Oversight: Participate in budget planning for both production operations and capital expenditures, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and alignment with financial goals.
  • Environmental and Safety Compliance: Coordinate with Environmental teams on water discharge quality, flow management, and treatment, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards and supporting environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Process Optimization and Industry Best Practices: Stay current with industry practices, technological advancements, and safety guidelines, continuously seeking opportunities for innovation and improvement.

 Potential Projects

  • Process Enhancement Initiatives: Develop and implement new techniques for process optimization, contributing to improved recovery rates and increased production capacity.
  • Maintenance Optimization Programs: Spearhead maintenance improvement projects to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of critical equipment.
  • Sustainability and Waste Reduction Efforts: Lead initiatives focused on sustainable practices, including water recycling and waste management, aligning with the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
  • Cross-Departmental Process Integration: Drive collaborative projects that streamline workflows between the mill and other departments, reducing production interruptions and ensuring seamless operation.
  • Employee Development Programs: Create and implement training programs to upskill mill personnel, fostering a culture of continuous learning and safety awareness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in milling and maintenance operations, with a strong understanding of flotation processes as a plus.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, with a persuasive and detail-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make informed decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
