Environmental/Reclamation Manager

Our client is seeking two Environmental/Reclamation Managers to join their high-performing team, supporting large-scale environmental remediation and construction projects in the western U.S. This exciting opportunity offers hands-on involvement in projects that impact communities and the environment, working with notable clients like the EPA and the Montana Department of Environmental Quality.

Based in Billings, MT, or near one of the client’s offices in Denver, Kansas City, or Phoenix, this position offers flexible hybrid or remote options with occasional travel to project sites.

Summary:

  • Develop engineering studies, designs, and specifications for the remediation of environmental contamination.
  • Provide oversight for Potentially Responsible Party (PRP) actions and interface with project managers, contractors, and government customers.
  • Review and ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and work plans, conducting field inspections to verify progress.
  • Draft project submittals and technical reports, including work plans, UFP-QAPPs, FSPs, RI/FS Reports, and safety plans.
  • Identify and document project deficiencies, ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Prepare daily reports on project activities, findings, and compliance.
  • Maintain an understanding of health and safety hazards at remediation and construction sites.
  • Travel up to 50% within the U.S. to support ongoing projects.

Potential Projects:

  • Environmental restoration of mining sites under CERCLA and RCRA.
  • Federal remediation projects involving emerging contaminants such as PFAS.
  • Mine-waste cleanup and large-scale environmental construction projects with federal clients.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience in the environmental remediation or construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering (or related field).
  • Strong understanding of CERCLA, DoD, DOE, EPA, and RCRA project requirements.
  • Proficiency in preparing remedial design documents, writing technical reports, and documenting project progress.
  • Familiarity with federal and state occupational regulations and a commitment to safety.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with teams and clients.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience working with the EPA on mining-related projects or the Montana DEQ.
  • Previous work on federal government remediation or construction sites.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • An S. degree in a related engineering field.
  • EIT certification or the ability to pass the FE exam within a year.
