Position Summary:
As a Project Geologist, you will play a critical role in supporting a variety of groundwater compliance, permitting, and water supply projects across public and private sectors. This position involves providing technical support, project management, and planning input to ensure successful project completion. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of Geologists, Engineers, and Soil Scientists, under the guidance of the Managing Geologist, to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and participate in groundwater quality monitoring projects, including the preparation of monitoring plans, well installations, data collection, management, evaluation, and reporting.
- Provide technical support for groundwater supply projects, such as exploratory drilling, well/wellfield design, borehole logging, well construction observation, and aquifer pumping tests.
- Contribute to and/or prepare proposals for new contracts, including scoping, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Communicate project progress, exceptions, and opportunities to team members, management, and clients.
- Continuously strive to improve team performance on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction metrics.
- Maintain awareness of market trends and opportunities to manage and conserve groundwater resources.
- Develop and support client relationships to ensure satisfaction and identify business opportunities.
- Conduct fieldwork independently in accordance with project-specific health and safety plans.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, accounting, and operations within a matrix organization.
- This role requires up to 25% travel (domestic), including overnight stays.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.
- Capable of organizing and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
Highly Desirable:
- Master’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, earth sciences, environmental engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Geologist (PG) license with the ability to obtain reciprocity in other states.
- Completion of a Certified Project Management Course with a professional designation.
- Experience in an environmental consulting firm.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
- MSHA Part 48 training.
