HSE Manager
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager to lead and enhance the HSE strategies at their operation. The HSE Manager will play a pivotal role in developing and executing safety and environmental systems, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a culture of safety across the site. This leadership position is a critical member of the sites senior management team, reporting directly to the Mine General Manager.
Key Responsibilities

Lead HSE Initiatives: Champion the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE systems across the operation.

Strategic Guidance: Provide expert advice to the senior leadership team to prioritize health and safety measures, reflecting the clients commitment to a safe working environment.

Compliance and Auditing: Oversee the development and maintenance of safety and environmental standards, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.

Emergency Preparedness: Manage and update the Emergency Response Plan, ensuring readiness for potential site emergencies.

Accident Management: Supervise accident reporting and investigations, analyze trends, and implement strategies to minimize risks and associated costs.

Environmental Management: Lead environmental policy compliance, including managing permits, licenses, and negotiations with regulatory agencies.

Team Leadership: Manage a team of HSE professionals, providing coaching, feedback, and ensuring alignment with the companys HSE objectives.

Budget Management: Prepare and manage the annual operating and capital budgets for HSE departments in line with established financial guidelines.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in a related field is strongly preferred. A Masters degree or equivalent specialized education is a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in HSE, including team management. Experience in mining and reclamation is highly desirable.

Skills:

In-depth knowledge of MSHA regulations and federal, state, and local environmental laws.

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a senior management team.

Proficiency with PC applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.
