Job Profile: Community Engagement / ESG / Permitting Manager

Location: Western US – Flexible. Regular visits required to project locations.

Their commitment to sustainability and responsible development ensures they minimize environmental impact while maximizing economic benefits for shareholders and local communities. With over two decades of responsible project generation and exploration, our client is transitioning from an explorer to a developer and is seeking passionate professionals to join their team.

Your Role:
As the Community Engagement / ESG / Permitting Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client's lithium projects. You'll be the bridge between the company and the community, ensuring social and environmental objectives are met. You'll spend significant time at project locations, building relationships with local stakeholders, advancing engagement strategies, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Our client understands that not every candidate will have the full range of skills listed. They are open to breaking down this role into several positions to find the right mix of experience, aptitude, and willingness to work with a small, growing team. Here are the potential areas of specialization:

Community Engagement Specialist:
- Focus on developing and implementing community engagement initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with local governmental, tribal, and civic stakeholders.
- Lead community meetings and manage logistics.
- Address community issues and maintain stakeholder engagement plans.

ESG Manager:
- Oversee and develop ESG initiatives, ensuring compliance with industry best practices.
- Manage project reclamation and environmental management efforts.
- Prepare and present ESG reports to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate ESG considerations into project planning.

Permitting Specialist:
- Manage the permitting process with federal and state agencies.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Plan for future exploration and mining activities.
- Coordinate with environmental consultants and legal teams.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in community relations, communications, or environmental and social management.
- Experience managing high-profile projects and contentious issues.
- Proficient in conflict resolution and working with Native communities.
- Strong computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
- Valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and excellent communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Willingness to undertake regional travel as required.
- Experience managing external contractors and consultants.

Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with tribal engagement and cultural sensitivity.
- Experience in environmental impact assessments and wildlife management.
- Experience in the mining or mineral processing sectors.
