Job Description

Our client is a well-diversified growing precious metals producer with operations across North America, including significant operations in Mexico, Nevada, Alaska, South Dakota, and British Columbia. They also have interests in several precious metals exploration projects throughout North America and are headquartered in Chicago, IL.

This role involves managing a silver-gold mining operation utilizing cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe technologies for metal recovery from crushed ore. They conduct a robust annual near-mine and greenfields exploration program to support ongoing operational activities and resource/reserve growth.

They are looking for an enterprising Senior Geologist to complement their Exploration Team. The role will report to the Exploration Manager and responsibilities include the implementation of exploration programs, the mentorship of geologists, as well as the compilation and analysis of various datasets. Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all activities of the Exploration Geology Department are consistent with all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and practices;
  • Execute exploration programs under the supervision of the Exploration Manager;
  • Participate in exploration program planning;
  • Maintain compliance with relevant Mine Health and Safety Administration (MSHA) rules and regulations;
  • Develop regional and deposit-scale geological models as exploration progresses;
  • Ensure exploration targets are reviewed and updated regularly;
  • Communicate progress and results to management in a timely fashion;
  • Always “Pursue a Higher Standard.”

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology required; post-graduate degree is a plus;
  • 7-10 years experience in mineral exploration, preferably in the Great Basin Province;
  • Experience in geological modeling, exploration mapping, and drilling;
  • Competence in various geological software platforms like Leapfrog, ArcGIS, ioGas, acQuire.
