Position Overview
M Force Partners is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to serve as a technical leader within a battery product development environment. This role will lead the design, validation, and production launch of new battery systems while supporting innovation, manufacturability, and long-term product performance.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing electromechanical products within manufacturing environments and will enjoy working hands-on through the full product lifecycle from concept and prototyping to testing and production implementation.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with suppliers, internal teams, and customers while leveraging an in-house prototype shop and fully operational testing lab to develop and validate new battery technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new battery products and electromechanical systems
- Serve as the technical lead and project manager throughout the product development lifecycle
- Communicate directly with customers to ensure designs meet application and performance requirements
- Design and improve battery systems using new components, materials, and assembly techniques
- Develop technical documentation including data sheets, assembly instructions, validation plans, bills of materials, and procurement specifications
- Identify and qualify vendors, suppliers, tooling, and new components
- Coordinate with internal departments to transition new products into production
- Oversee prototype builds, testing, and product certification activities
- Investigate new manufacturing and assembly techniques to improve performance, reliability, and manufacturability
- Manage technical documentation systems including PDM and ECO processes
- Supervise prototype shop and document control technicians
- Support operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, military, IEC, UL, and transportation standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 7–10 years of experience in mechanical design of electromechanical products such as batteries, automotive systems, appliances, medical devices, or telecommunications products
- Experience in product development within manufacturing environments
- Experience designing and specifying assemblies involving:
- Injection-molded plastic components
- Machined plastic components
- Wiring harnesses
- Weldments
- Electronic protection devices and connectors
- Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to improve manufacturability, reliability, and product lifecycle performance
- Experience interpreting and applying standards including:
- MIL-PRF specifications
- IEC standards
- UL compliance requirements
- UN transportation regulations
- Supervisory experience leading technicians or support staff
- Proficiency with 3D CAD mechanical design software
- Hands-on experience using assembly and testing equipment such as:
- Welders
- Soldering irons
- Test equipment
- Encapsulant dispensers
- Must meet the definition of a “US Person” under 22 CFR 120.62
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States
