Forensic Engineer – Ontario (Hybrid)
Leap Recruitment Partners is actively seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented Forensic Engineer on behalf of a valued client. Our client is a premier, nationwide multidisciplinary consulting firm renowned for its expertise in project management, environmental assessments, and forensic engineering. They provide critical investigative and technical solutions to the commercial, legal, and property insurance sectors across Canada.
The Role
In this dynamic, hybrid role based in Ontario, you will dive into the fast-paced world of technical claims and property loss investigations. Working alongside and learning from seasoned industry experts, you will help uncover the root causes of complex incidents, ranging from structural collapses and building envelope failures to fire, water damage, and mechanical or electrical malfunctions. This is a highly practical, hands-on position designed to sharpen your analytical, investigative, and technical writing capabilities while providing a clear runway for your engineering career.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct thorough on-site examinations to evaluate structural, building envelope, impact, fire, and weather-related damages.

Meticulously document and preserve critical evidence, creating detailed field notes and comprehensive photo logs.

Collaborate on root-cause and failure analysis to determine the origin of varied property losses.

Draft clear, accurate, and defensible technical reports under the mentorship of senior engineering staff.

Assist in the coordination of laboratory testing and engage with specialized external consultants as necessary.

Ensure seamless communication across diverse internal departments and external project stakeholders to drive case progression.

Strictly adhere to quality assurance, quality control, and safety guidelines during all field and office operations.

Contribute cross-functionally to comprehensive investigations alongside the broader consulting divisions.
Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.

Active registration (or immediate eligibility) as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in Ontario, with a strong dedication to achieving your P.Eng. designation.

Between 1 and 3 years of relevant engineering experience. Past co-ops or internships in consulting, construction, or forensic environments are highly valued.

Familiarity with building sciences, construction systems, or insurance-related failure analysis is a distinct advantage.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, specifically in crafting detailed technical documentation.

A sharp analytical mindset coupled with excellent problem-solving abilities and sound professional judgment.

Proven capability to juggle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment.

Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and a working knowledge of CAD software.
