Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

The Role

In this critical position, you will provide specialized technical insights to support the underwriting of complex energy, power, and major infrastructure construction risks. This role perfectly balances technical diagnostic mastery with market-facing relationship building, allowing you to directly shape the risk engineering capabilities for a highly sophisticated, high-value corporate portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Evaluations: Execute comprehensive pre-bind risk analyses, detailed facility site surveys, and rigorous technical evaluations for energy and power assets.

  • Framework Development: Build and refine sector-specific risk structures, including estimated maximum loss (EML) methodologies and grading mechanisms.

  • Risk Mitigation: Provide strategic risk improvement recommendations, perform loss history reviews, and manage comprehensive account service plans.

  • Underwriting Partnership: Collaborate closely with commercial underwriters to dissect intricate risk profiles and offer execution support on high-profile deals.

  • Market Engagement: Participate directly in strategic client consultations, broker discussions, and technical industry presentations.

  • Trend Analysis: Contribute to the evolution of underwriting guidelines by analyzing emerging technological hazards across the construction and energy sectors.

  • Industry Expertise: Maintain an advanced understanding of evolving industrial operations, emerging green technologies, and transforming market hazards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Industry Tenure: 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in risk engineering specifically focused on the energy, power generation, or oil & gas sectors.

  • Technical Domain: Deep technical expertise regarding major infrastructure, heavy industrial energy systems, or power utility plants.

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.

  • Account Management: Proven success handling complex, large-scale, or highly specialized corporate accounts.

  • Communication Style: Superb client-facing engagement, advisory, and presentation skills.

  • Commercial Acumen: An innate capability to convert complex technical details into clear underwriting and business advantages.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary Range: CAD $140,000 - CAD $190,000 annually
