About the Role
Leap is recruiting a Quality Engineer on behalf of our client, an automotive components manufacturer specializing in injection molding. The Quality Engineer coordinates the activities of the quality system while supporting a portfolio of customers assigned by the Quality Manager. This role is responsible for administering the company's quality program in partnership with designated customers, driving internal corrective actions, and supervising the Quality Inspectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the customer liaison for on-going quality issues for specific assigned accounts
- Serve as the internal champion for designated customer and supplier issues or concerns
- Lead root cause investigations on internal and external quality concerns
- Supervise and support Quality Inspectors with daily production-related tasks
- Participate in new business reviews, customer programs, and supplier development
- Establish procedures for assigned programs to uphold quality, reliability, and safety standards
- Partner with the APQP team on new program launches, ensuring a smooth transition from GP-12 to production
- Support new program feasibility reviews and company-wide quality improvement initiatives
- Lead quality process improvements and support IATF16949 compliance
- Identify potential SOP revisions to support continuous improvement
- Collaborate cross-functionally to identify quality improvement opportunities
- Support new product/part launches, including work instructions, FMEA, control plans, inspection sheets, measurement strategy, gage review/sourcing, and safe launch (GP-12) documentation
- Train inspectors, operators, and safe launch personnel on new parts
- Collect and review GP-12/safe launch inspection data and suspect samples; present findings (I-Chart) in GP-12 meetings and track corrective actions
- Model and promote safe work practices across the office and plant
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager

Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, including SPC and structured problem-solving techniques
- Tier 1 / Tier 2 automotive supply chain experience required
- Injection molding experience preferred
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and related software
- Solid understanding of metrology (GD&T, CMM, etc.)
- Knowledge of APQP and PPAP processes
- Internal Auditor certification (ISO14001 and/or IATF16949) an asset
- WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) knowledge
