The Role

In this high-impact leadership position, you will spearhead the design and execution of complex high-voltage transmission and distribution projects. You will be responsible for driving technical innovation in overhead line design while overseeing multidisciplinary teams of engineers, designers, and technologists. This role is a perfect fit for a technical expert who is passionate about building resilient power systems and dedicated to mentoring the next generation of engineering professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Modeling Excellence: Lead the development of overhead transmission and distribution systems using advanced modeling tools such as PLS-CADD and AutoCAD.

  • Technical Leadership: Mentor and guide EITs and technical staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and technical excellence.

  • Project Lifecycle Management: Manage everything from initial interconnection applications to the creation of detailed procurement and installation packages.

  • Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous peer reviews, take professional responsibility for engineered products, and ensure all work aligns with provincial Professional Practice Management Plans (PPMP).

  • Field Oversight: Supervise on-site field inspections, infrastructure energization, and commissioning activities.

  • Regulatory & Standards Compliance: Ensure all designs meet or exceed NEC, CSA, NESC, and ANSI/IEEE requirements, maintaining full alignment with APEGA and EGBC standards.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the organization in critical client meetings, risk assessments, and regulatory reviews to ensure integrated project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Civil/Structural Engineering from a Canadian-accredited institution.

  • Licensure: Registered (or immediately eligible for registration) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA and/or EGBC.

  • Experience: A minimum of 8 years in transmission and distribution engineering, with a proven track record in leadership roles.

  • Software Mastery: Expert proficiency in PLS-CADD and AutoCAD.

  • Core Competencies: Strong command of environmental considerations, public safety protocols, and technical standards for overhead lines.

  • Soft Skills: Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
