Job Description
IT Analyst & Technical Support Specialist
Location: Toronto, ON (On-site)
Role Type: 6-Month Contract (Extendable) | In-office
Compensation: $60,000 – $70,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
About the Opportunity
This role is with a specialized financial services firm seeking a versatile IT professional to bridge the gap between technical infrastructure and business operations. As an IT Analyst & Technical Support Specialist, you will be the operational backbone of the firm’s digital environment, ensuring that mission-critical transaction systems and hardware are optimized for a fast-paced team.
You will join an entrepreneurial setting where you are empowered to take full ownership of the IT landscape—from high-level system integration to day-to-day user support. This is a unique opportunity for a tech-savvy professional with a strong commercial sense to build efficient workflows and automations that directly impact the firm’s success.
Why This Role is a Great Fit for You
If you are a process-driven problem solver who enjoys working at the intersection of finance and technology, this position offers a high-impact environment to apply your skills.
- Strategic Impact: You won't just "fix computers"—you will integrate off-the-shelf transaction management systems and develop speedy workflows that keep the business moving.
- Commercial Autonomy: You will use your judgment to decide what requires a quick code fix, a manual solution, or a deep dive into third-party software flaws.
- Dynamic Work Environment: This is an ideal fit for a nimble professional who enjoys pivoting between various projects and thrives in an accountable, "no task left behind" culture.
- Growth & Flexibility: Enjoy a Toronto-based onsite role with the rare flexibility to choose a 3, 4, or 5-day work week based on your schedule.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your mission is to ensure technical excellence and operational continuity across the firm:
- System Integration & Automation: Lead the integration of third-party transaction management systems and develop automations to streamline financial services workflows.
- Technical Infrastructure Management: Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot IT hardware, software applications, and network components used by specialized financial professionals.
- User Support & Training: Provide immediate technical support to staff, resolving hardware/software issues and training team members on new IT tools and software.
- Infrastructure Monitoring: Proactively monitor network performance and computer system health to prevent downtime and maintain data organization.
- Vendor & Project Management: Act as the primary technical contact for external software vendors, ensuring that third-party solutions meet the firm's rigorous standards.
What You Bring
- Experience: 3–7+ years of experience working in an in-person environment specifically within the Canadian financial services sector (Banks, Credit Unions, Asset Managers, Insurance, or Specialty Finance).
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science is preferred. A Master’s degree is considered a strong asset.
- Technical Mastery: Proven expertise in computer system installation, network monitoring, and troubleshooting financial software applications.
- Commercial Savvy: A deep understanding of how to balance manual vs. automated solutions and a passion for organizing data workflows.
- Mindset: An entrepreneurial, team-oriented self-starter with the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced environment and the communication skills to train non-technical staff.
Why Join
- Professional Ownership: Take full accountability for an IT environment where your technical decisions have a direct, visible impact on transaction speed and accuracy.
- Specialized Expertise: Deepen your knowledge of accounting and transaction management systems within a sophisticated financial services framework.
- Collaborative Culture: Work with an engaging, entrepreneurial team that values both independent problem-solving and collective success.
