Role Summary / Purpose

General Electric Vernova has an opening for a Senior Structural Designer. The Designer will provide drafting and detailing support for structural design of the BWRX-300 Reactor Building from preliminary phase through construction documents.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Preparation of 3D Revit structural models and 2D drawings and details of structural building systems.

  • Create definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 3D models, 2D cross sections, section details, tolerance stack-ups, and various electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection.

  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a structural discipline, analytical thinking, and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.

  • Has knowledge of structural drafting and design best practices, including interfaces with mechanical piping, HVAC and electrical.

  • Design activity will require knowledge of design principles and drafting procedures.

  • Work with BIM coordinator to manage and issue models in Autodesk Construction Cloud tool while enforcing configuration management plan.

  • Support Civil Structural Team in 3D model (Navisworks, Revit).

  • Proficient in Revit & Autodesk suite of tools.

  • Uses technical experience and analytical thinking.

  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • An Associates degree in Structural Design (or similar) 3 years of experience in structural drafting for heavy industrial, thermal power, nuclear industry or similar industries.

  • OR at least 5 years of relevant work experience in structural drafting for heavy industrial, thermal power, nuclear industry or similar industries.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience using Revit for structural modeling.

Additional Desired Characteristics

  • Experience managing project work schedules and priorities.

  • Work proactively with Engineering teams to develop 3D Model in Autodesk Tool suite (Revit).

  • Work within a team environment to execute work plans and schedules as applicable for mission success.

  • Perform work in compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Competency in computer programs and software such as Microsoft products and Microsoft teams.

  • Advanced knowledge of Revit family creation.

  • Autodesk Inventor experience a plus.

  • Experience using Autodesk BIM360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud.

  • Experience using Autodesk Vault.
