Job Description

Multi-Line Property Claims Adjuster

Leap Recruitment Partners is currently seeking a skilled Multi-Line Property Claims Adjuster on behalf of a prominent leader in the Canadian independent insurance adjusting sector. Our client is known for providing high-level technical expertise and exceptional service standards across the country.

The Role

This is a field-based opportunity focusing on the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of both personal and commercial property claims. As a representative of our client, you will act as a critical point of contact for policyholders, ensuring that complex losses are investigated thoroughly and settled fairly.

Please note: This position requires regular travel within the GTA for site inspections and assessments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive Claims Oversight: Direct the full lifecycle of personal and commercial property claims, including high-complexity large losses, from initial intake to final resolution.

  • Field Investigation: Perform detailed on-site inspections, gather evidence, and conduct interviews with involved parties to build a comprehensive loss profile.

  • Technical Analysis: Determine the scope of damage and interpret specific policy language to establish accurate coverage and indemnity.

  • Specialist Coordination: Liaise with a network of external experts—including engineers, contractors, and forensic specialists—to substantiate documentation and evidence.

  • Negotiation & Resolution: Facilitate fair and equitable settlements through professional negotiation with policyholders and their representatives.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all file activities are documented with precision, maintaining compliance with industry regulations and current case law regarding liability.

  • Strategic Communication: Draft essential legal and technical correspondence, including Reservation of Rights, Proof of Loss, and Critical Path letters.

  • Financial Accountability: Manage data accuracy for claims files, authorizing payments to vendors, experts, and the insured.

  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify opportunities for subrogation, recognize potential risk hazards, and flag questionable claims for further investigation.

Qualifications

  • Licensing: Must possess a valid Ontario Independent Adjuster’s License.

  • Education: A Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation, or active progress toward completion, is highly preferred.

  • Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of the property insurance industry, specifically within multi-line exposures. Previous experience in field adjustment is considered a strong asset.

  • Technical Knowledge: Deep familiarity with a wide range of property and casualty policy wordings and industry best practices.

  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential for managing complex negotiations and professional reporting.

Compensation & Perks

Our client provides a professional and supportive work environment along with:

  • Competitive base salary.

  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits.

  • Secure pension plan.

  • Generous paid vacation time.
