Job Description

About The Role:
We’re seeking a high-performing Vice President, Commercial Insurance – Construction Sales to drive new business growth and expand presence in Ontario’s construction sector. This is a strategic, senior sales role for a commercially minded insurance professional with deep industry expertise and a passion for winning and growing business. As a key member of our Commercial Sales Leadership Team, you’ll focus exclusively on generating new mid-market and large construction clients while supporting the continued evolution of our Construction Practice. You'll leverage strong market access, technical expertise, and brand presence to close complex deals and become a trusted partner to contractors, developers, and infrastructure firms across Ontario. This role is ideal for a hunter-style sales leader with a construction specialization, strong market relationships, and the drive to lead from the front in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

What You’ll Do
Sales & Business Development
- Drive new business acquisition across the construction industry — including general contractors, subtrades, developers, and design-build firms.
- Develop customized risk and insurance programs tailored to the unique needs of the construction industry, including Liability, Builders’ Risk, Wrap-Up, Contractors’ Equipment, Environmental, and Fleet.
- Lead and execute sales strategies, RFP responses, and presentations for high-value opportunities.
- Work closely with the national construction practice resources, marketing teams, and internal subject-matter experts to win competitive deals.

Market Leadership & Strategic Influence:
-Be a visible face of the Construction Practice in the Ontario market — attending industry events, networking with decision-makers, and cultivating referral sources including lawyers, engineers, lenders, and associations.
-Stay on top of trends, legislation (e.g., CCDC), and evolving risk issues in the construction industry to keep clients informed and position the organization as a thought leader.
-Partner with regional and national practice leaders to help refine go-to-market strategies, carrier relationships, and sector-specific value propositions.

Team Collaboration & Growth Enablement:
-Collaborate closely with other producers, executive leaders, and marketing teams to support cross-selling opportunities and integrated client solutions.
-Provide informal mentorship and sector insight to new producers or colleagues pursuing construction prospects.
-Contribute to knowledge sharing and sales enablement tools specific to the construction vertical.

Qualifications and Expertise that Pave the Way for Success
-RIBO license required or ability to obtain; CIP, CRM, or CAIB designations are strong assets.
-10+ years of commercial insurance experience, with a primary focus on new business development in the construction sector.
-Strong knowledge of construction-specific coverages and requirements, including CGL, Builders’ Risk, Wrap-Up, Contractors’ Pollution, and Project-Specific coverages.
-Established network of construction clients and referral sources in Ontario — including general contractors, developers, and infrastructure firms.
-Proven ability to win and grow complex accounts through consultative, solution-based selling.
-Exceptional sales acumen, presentation skills, and a high level of professional credibility with executive stakeholders.
-Entrepreneurial spirit with a strong sense of accountability and resilience in a competitive sales environment.
