Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Senior SQL Database Administrator to manage and maintain our SQL Database systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of our database infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Management:
  • Provision, install, and configure SQL Database systems.
  • Manage backups, restores, recovery models, and database maintenance.
  • Optimize database performance through tuning and query optimization.
  • Manage security and report incidents.
  • Create, maintain, and refresh instances/databases for development and production environments.
• Troubleshooting & Support:
  • Detect and troubleshoot SQL Server performance issues (CPU, memory, I/O, disk space).
  • Provide Level 3 support for service desk.
  • Participate in incident resolution and documentation.
  • Provide off-hours on-call support for critical production systems.
• Technical Operations:
  • Work with SQL Server tools (Profiler, SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, PerfMon).
  • Manage indexes, integrity checks, configuration, and patching.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring scripts.
  • Establish maintenance procedures and system documentation.
  • Participate in technical research and development.
• Collaboration & Communication:
  • Act as a liaison between application programmers and project teams.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with technical staff.
  • Follow standards, write, and maintain documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of DBA experience.
• Expertise in:
  • MS-SQL Server 2008 and higher.
  • Performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler, and related tools.
  • Mission-critical high-availability environments.
  • Windows operating systems.
  • Server and SAN storage hardware.
  • Virtualization (VMWare).
  • Data protection.
• Excellent knowledge of infrastructure technologies (servers, virtualization, networking, end-user computing).
• High level of analytical and independent problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.
• Ability to provide professional technical support.
• Ability to research technical issues and products.
• Attention to detail and root cause analysis.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Bilingualism (French & English) or English fluency.

Preferred Skills (Assets):

• Azure Synapse and other Azure MS SQL database knowledge.
