Job Title: Commercial Property Underwriter

Location: Hybrid (1 day per week onsite)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate terms for new and existing insurance programs.
  • Offer innovative solutions to enhance service delivery.
  • Engage in broker visits, industry functions, and marketing events to foster relationship development.
  • Provide expert technical advice and mentorship to team members.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as actuarial, risk control, claims, marketing, business development, and legal to ensure cohesive operations.
  • Regularly develop and revise program agreements.
  • Manage ongoing maintenance of insurance programs, including renewals and endorsements.
  • Stay informed on industry trends to continuously improve and update programs.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as needed to support organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • University or College degree required.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
  • Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) is an asset.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial underwriting.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers.
  • Initiative-taking and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Competence in negotiating moderately complex situations.
  • Effective at fostering business relationships to achieve growth and business objectives.
  • Experience in a competitive sales environment.
  • Client-focused with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service experience.
  • High professionalism, tact, and discretion.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a proven ability to deliver results.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and innovative.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
