Job Title: Commercial Property Underwriter

Location: Hybrid Work Model (1 day/week in office)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the key liaison between our company and a specific group of brokers to produce and underwrite profitable commercial property and casualty business within service standards.
  • Develop and strengthen broker relationships to enhance business growth.
  • Analyze performance metrics to ensure profitability and meet growth targets.
  • Communicate regularly with the management team about results, issues, and opportunities.
  • Document underwriting decisions for assessment and evaluation.
  • Handle Facultative Reinsurance negotiations within your authority and manage related documentation.
  • Promote our commercial insurance products and services through impactful broker presentations.
  • Participate in training and development of team members as needed.
  • Undertake additional duties as necessary to support the department’s objectives.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years in underwriting, specifically in commercial insurance.
  • A university degree or college diploma.
  • Active involvement in or completion of the CIP (FCIP) designation.
  • Strong understanding of commercial property and casualty products.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and sales skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • High degree of accountability, customer-focused thinking, and a commitment to excellence.
