Job Overview:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for managing the financial operations of the company, ensuring the organizations financial health and sustainability. This role will oversee all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and compliance requirements. The CFO will work closely with the President/CEO, Executive team, and Board of Directors to develop and implement financial strategies that support the organizations mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management
- Develop and implement financial strategies that support the organizations mission and goals
- Manage and oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Oversee the accuracy and completeness of financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and other financial systems
- Prepare and present financial reports to the President/CEO and Board of Directors, providing analysis and recommendations as needed
- Ensure compliance with all financial reporting and regulatory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and other reporting requirement
- Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, auditors, and other financial service providers
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Develop and oversee the annual budgeting process, working closely with Controller to develop realistic and achievable budgets
- Monitor actual performance against budget and provide regular updates and analysis to the President/CEO and Board of Directors
- Develop and maintain financial forecasting models that support long-term financial planning and decision-making
Strategic Planning and Leadership
- Work closely with the President/CEO and senior leaders to develop and implement strategic plans and goals that support the organizations mission and vision

Board Relations and Reporting
- Report on the financial performance of the organization to the Board of Directors, including regular updates on budget performance, forecasts, and financial risks and opportunities
- Collaborate with the President/CEO and Board of Directors to develop and implement financial policies and procedures that align with the organizations values and strategic goal
- Represent the organization at internal and external events and meetings, providing financial guidance and support as needed
Tax Filing and Compliance
- Oversee all tax filings and compliance requirements, ensuring that the organization is in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
- Manage relationships with external auditors and other financial service providers to ensure compliance with all reporting and regulatory requirements
Administrative duties
- Serve as member of the organizations leadership team including signatory authority in line with the organizations internal controls, approval of all administrative costs and control over access permissions for bank accounts and organizational credit cards
- Establish and ensure compliance with accounting standards and practices in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, Uniform Guidance, funder requirements, the financial management system and best practices in not-for-profit accounting; maintain current and relevant financial and accounting policies and procedures
- Oversee the organizations financial statements, budgets, reports, depreciation schedules and cash flow projections and ensure the timely and accurate submission of monthly, quarterly and annual tax, regulatory and grant filings including but not limited to GET, 1099s, and Indirect Cost Rate Proposal to Federal Cognizant Agency
- Monitor/oversee compliance with State(s) charity registration laws and regulations; Oversee/prepare application(s) and renewal(s);
- Collaborate with the Executive management and Investment Committee (IC) to review and oversee the organizations Private Fund assets to ensure compliance with the companys Investment Policy Statement. This includes providing reports to the IC quarterly, monitoring invested funds with the companys investment advisor(s), and maintaining detailed records of all invested funds
Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant and Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- MBA strongly preferred
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in a nonprofit organization
- Proven track record of successful financial management, including experience developing and implementing financial strategies, managing budgets, and overseeing financial reporting and compliance
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience building and leading high-performing teams
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Passion for the mission and work of the organization
- Passionate interest in mentoring others and working as a team
- Strong understanding of accounting software such as Abila MIP Fund Accounting

Working conditions:
- Office setting
- Position may be hybrid. Home office must have a designated area that is free from distractions and conducive to telework arrangement
- May require some driving to/from banks, meetings or other offices
- Travel to the neighbor islands and U.S. continent may be required
