Job Description

Kumabe HR is working with a small, local private educational facility to find a Grants and Fund Development Specialist. The Grants and Fund Development Specialist will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals for the school. They will also maintain relationships with funders, track grant submissions, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with grant requirements. Additionally, this person will help to identify potential new funding sources and monitor and coordinate required report evaluations on existing grants.

Major Responsibilities

  • Prepare grant applications and reporting, grant-funded program budgets, and grants calendar
  • Research grant opportunities to develop additional funding resources for our current programs and services
  • Attend monthly board meetings
  • Write reports or prepare presentations to communicate fundraising program data
  • Assist with additional fundraising activities
  • Must occasionally work special events, such as admissions events

Additional fundraising duties to include:

  • Solicit cash or in-kind donations or sponsorships from individual, business, or government donors.
  • Write and send letters of thanks to donors
  • Monitor the progress of fundraising drives
  • Recruit sponsors, participants, or volunteers for fundraising events
  • Design materials such as posters, websites, or newsletters to promote, market, or advertise fundraising events
  • Plan and direct special events for fundraising, such as silent auctions, dances, golf events, or walks
  • Direct or coordinate web-based fundraising activities, such as online auctions or donation websites
  • Coordinate transportation or delivery of materials, supplies, or donations for fundraising events
  • Prepare materials such as fundraising envelopes, bid sheets, or gift bags for charitable events
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in grant writing, nonprofit administration, or another related field
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to research and identify potential funding sources and develop successful grant proposals
  • Experience with grant management, recordkeeping, and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with a team to achieve common goals
  • Have outstanding verbal and written communication skills; The ability to effectively communicate and interact with current and prospective donors, volunteers, co-workers, and the general public is required
  • Detail-oriented to effectively gather, organize and classify data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ideally database reporting software
  • Understanding of grantmaking, philanthropy and/or fundraising and knowledge of local and national foundation, government, and corporate funder landscapes is a plus
