Mechanical Design Engineer
Summary
Provides hands-on technical support in new product design, development, testing, and documentation for industrial automation equipment. Applies engineering design principles to deliver innovative solutions and support mechanical system development.
Primary Responsibilities
- Contribute to mechanical system design of industrial automation equipment.
- Provide hands-on problem-solving to drive design improvements based on collected data.
- Perform engineering calculations and analysis per project requirements.
- Support prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing.
- Document and communicate engineering results clearly for effective knowledge transfer.
- Participate in project planning, reviews, and definition of schedules, budgets, risks, and resource needs.
- Present technology or project updates to key stakeholders.
- Collaborate in person with engineering peers to build mechanical/automation design skills.
Occasional Responsibilities
- Assist with equipment assembly.
- Apply statistics to engineering data to identify trends, correlations, and insights.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 0–3 years of engineering design experience with converting equipment.
- Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting equipment and processes.
- Ability to use complex software for design, problem-solving, and documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate within a team environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work full days at a computer.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to use hand tools and monitoring/testing equipment.
- Ability to occasionally climb ladders and work in tight spaces.
- Ability to work in loud, non–air-conditioned environments during equipment commissioning or troubleshooting.
- Ability to wear PPE (safety shoes, glasses, ear protection).
- Must be able to travel internationally and domestically (~20%).
