Our client, a well-established boutique law firm in Vaughan, is seeking an experienced Family Law Clerk to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on clerk who enjoys managing files, working directly with clients, and supporting lawyers across a broad range of family law matters.

Manage family law files and provide lawyers with regular status updates;
Communicate directly with clients regarding file developments, documentation and next steps;
Draft and prepare pleadings, correspondence, affidavits, motion materials, conference briefs and disclosure briefs;
Prepare simple divorce applications, Continuing Records, Financial Statements and Net Family Property Statements;
Draft Minutes of Settlement, domestic contracts and other family law documents;
File, issue and serve court materials and coordinate with process servers and courthouse staff;
Assist with mediation memos, questioning/discoveries and trial preparation;
Schedule client meetings, counsel discussions and other appointments;
Meet with clients for document execution;
Conduct case law research as required;
Maintain physical and electronic client files;
Record dockets and file-related disbursements in CosmoLex and maintain accurate billing records; and
Provide additional support to lawyers as required.
23+ years of family law experience;
Law Clerk diploma or relevant certification preferred;
Working knowledge of the Family Law Rules, Practice Directions and family law procedures;
Experience preparing family law pleadings, financial documentation and court materials;
Experience with DivorceMate and CosmoLex;
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
Excellent drafting, written and verbal communication skills;
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and accuracy;
Ability to independently manage multiple files and competing deadlines;
Experience supporting multiple lawyers considered an asset;
Professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential information; and
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
