Client Profile

Our client, a respected Toronto law firm, is seeking a Legal Assistant to join its Labour & Employment Law group. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage lawyers' calendars, including scheduling meetings, conference calls, arbitrations, court appearances, and other appointments.
  • Assist lawyers with assigning, scheduling, and coordinating new matters.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties, primarily by email.
  • Prepare, edit, proofread, and format correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Coordinate the preparation and delivery of physical books and materials when required.
  • Request and follow up on medical records, employment records, and other documentation from third parties.
  • Coordinate the service and filing of documents with courts, tribunals, and arbitrators.
  • Maintain electronic client files by ensuring all correspondence and documents are accurately saved within the document management system.
  • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with lawyers and support staff to ensure matters are completed efficiently.
  • Provide additional administrative and legal support as required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in Labour & Employment or litigation.
  • Excellent organizational and calendar management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience preparing legal correspondence and court or tribunal documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Professional, proactive, and client-focused approach.
