Our client, a well-established law firm, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Legal Assistant to join its busy litigation practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and detail-oriented legal professional with extensive litigation experience who is comfortable independently managing a busy practice.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare motion records, Affidavits of Documents, and Bills of Costs.
  • Prepare mediation briefs and Pre-Trial Conference Memoranda.
  • Review transcripts and prepare lists of outstanding undertakings and refusals.
  • Organize files and ensure all documents are properly filed in their corresponding folders.
  • Schedule appointments, Examinations for Discovery, mediations, and other litigation-related matters.
  • Handle daily correspondence and telephone inquiries with clients and opposing counsel.
  • Organize and maintain a bring-forward system to ensure all limitation periods and deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and complete documentation required for a litigation practice, including affidavits, motions, factums, briefs of authorities, pleadings, and related materials.
  • Independently manage a busy litigation practice and communicate professionally with clients.
  • Assist with projects and other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of litigation experience, preferably within a law firm.
  • Completion of a community college Legal Assistant program.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and procedures at all levels of court.
  • Experience with court scheduling and filing.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with ACL, Elite 3E, and Microsoft Office.
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented, with the ability to work effectively in a busy team environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated initiative with strong prioritization and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong dicta-typing and proofreading skills.
