Client Profile

Our client, a highly respected Toronto law firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk to join its busy Commercial Real Estate group. This is an excellent opportunity to work on sophisticated commercial real estate and financing transactions in a collaborative, professional environment that values initiative, accuracy, and career development.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial real estate files independently from opening through closing.
  • Prepare documentation for commercial purchases, sales, acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and refinancing transactions.
  • Conduct title and off-title due diligence and prepare detailed title reports.
  • Draft and review closing documents, title requisitions, reporting letters, and other transaction documents.
  • Prepare and register documents electronically using Teraview.
  • Coordinate and communicate with lawyers, clients, lenders, surveyors, municipalities, and opposing counsel throughout transactions.
  • Review and satisfy closing requirements and financing conditions.
  • Prepare closing books and post-closing documentation.
  • Maintain accurate file records and ensure all critical deadlines are met.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior clerks as required.
  • Perform additional commercial real estate and land development-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience as a Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk.
  • Demonstrated experience handling complex commercial real estate transactions independently.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario real estate law and commercial lending transactions.
  • Extensive experience conducting title and off-title searches and preparing title reports.
  • Proficiency with Teraview and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with commercial acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and refinancing matters.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Law Clerk Diploma required.
