Our client, a well-established plaintiff-side personal injury law firm, is seeking an experienced Litigation Law Clerk with strong Tort and Accident Benefits (AB) experience to join their team. This is a drafting-intensive, technology-driven role suited for a highly organized professional who takes full ownership of their files and thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and confident managing a busy caseload while working collaboratively with lawyers and support staff to move files forward efficiently.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Draft, revise, and finalize a wide range of litigation documents, including:
- Statements of Claim, demand letters, and settlement materials
- LAT filings, Accident Benefits materials, affidavits, and motion records
- Discovery documents, undertakings charts, and follow-up correspondence
- Manage Tort and Accident Benefits files from intake through to resolution
- Track deadlines, limitation periods, undertakings, and next steps on files
- Maintain organized and up-to-date electronic file systems
- Coordinate discoveries, medical assessments, mediations, and procedural steps
- Communicate professionally with clients, insurers, opposing counsel, experts, and vendors
- Collaborate with lawyers and team members to support file strategy and progression
- Utilize practice management systems and tools to effectively track and advance files
Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years of Ontario plaintiff personal injury experience
- Strong experience with both Tort and Accident Benefits files
- Proven drafting skills with the ability to produce high-quality legal documents
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and deadline management
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
- Experience with FileVine is considered a significant asset
- Familiarity with PrimaFact is an asset
- Exposure to Tracument, ACL, Soluno, and MedChart is considered an asset
- Comfortable using document management systems, e-filing portals, and legal technology tools
- Ability to use templates, checklists, and tracking systems to manage workflow efficiently
