Client Profile
Our client, a top-tier Toronto law firm specializing in Personal Injury litigation, is currently seeking a Tort Litigation Assistant to join their team. Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare legal documents including Affidavit of Documents, Trial Records, Notices of Examination, Discovery Plans, Affidavits of Service, and Motion Confirmations
- Draft and send correspondence to clients, medical professionals, insurance companies, and defence counsel
- Coordinate with court offices and process servers regarding filings, motions, pre-trials, and trial bookings
- Manage lawyers’ calendars, including scheduling discoveries, mediations, and meetings
- Act as a liaison between lawyers, clients, and third parties regarding file progression
- Request and fulfill undertakings
- Open, close, and maintain client files (electronic and paper)
- Maintain bring-forward system and organize file materials
- Assist with billing, prepare accounts, and maintain basic accounting functions
- Arrange meetings, conference calls, and other administrative tasks
- Provide general administrative support and handle routine correspondence
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant in Plaintiff Personal Injury or Civil Litigation
- Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and court processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and legal software such as Filevine and/or Soluno
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with keen attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
