Client Profile
Our client, a mid-sized Toronto law firm, is currently seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join their team. This firm is known for its excellent workplace culture and strong commitment to career development and growth.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare correspondence, legal documents, and court materials, including assembling documents both electronically and in hard copy
- Review and edit documentation to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Manage electronic filing and organization of documents within the document management system in accordance with court procedures
- Handle signing and filing of legal documents
- Prepare internal and external communications, including letters, emails, and memos
- Manage client file deadlines and maintain accurate diarizations in Outlook
- Prepare and issue monthly client invoices and follow up on outstanding accounts
- Open, close, and maintain legal files
- Schedule appointments, meetings, conference calls, and manage lawyers’ calendars
- Provide general administrative support as required
Requirements
- Graduate of a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program
- 3–5 years of litigation experience within a law firm; corporate tax experience considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure; familiarity with Federal Court Rules and Tax Court of Canada rules is an asset
- Proficiency with MS Office, DocuSign, ACL, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems
- Experience with Aderant Accounting software is an asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Professional, client-focused, and positive attitude
