Our Client
Our client, a busy civil litigation and class actions practice, is seeking a Junior Litigation Clerk to join their team. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional with at least one year of litigation experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing procedural deadlines and court filings.
Duties & Responsibilities
Open and maintain litigation files, including conflict checks and file organization
Draft, format, and proofread pleadings, affidavits, motion materials, and correspondence
Coordinate service and filing of court documents, including affidavits of service and confirmations
File materials through applicable court platforms in compliance with the Rules of Civil Procedure and practice directions
Maintain accurate diarization of limitation periods, hearing dates, and procedural deadlines
Assist with preparation for motions, mediations, discoveries, hearings, and trials, including compiling briefs and exhibits
Manage document production tasks, including organizing records and preparing electronic/PDF briefs
Liaise with courts, clients, process servers, and opposing counsel regarding scheduling and filings
Track undertakings and follow-ups to support file progression
Provide calendar management, scheduling, and administrative support to assigned lawyers
Assist with marketing and business development initiatives as needed
Requirements
Minimum 1 year of litigation experience (law clerk and/or legal assistant)
Strong knowledge of court procedures and litigation timelines
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with legal practice management and docketing systems
Familiarity with iManage, Soluno, ACL, CaseLines, Westlaw, and CanLII considered an asset
Professional discretion and ability to handle confidential information
Flexibility to work overtime as required
