Our client, a well-established Toronto law firm, is seeking a Legal Assistant with condominium law experience to support lawyers and law clerks with condominium closings, status certificates, and governance matters. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing files and deadlines in a fast-paced real estate practice.
Duties & Responsibilities
Open and organize condominium files in accordance with firm procedures.
Conduct title subsearches, off-title inquiries, and obtain relevant property documents.
Prepare and file required forms under the Condominium Act, including Form 4 (Notice of Change – Condominium Corporation).
Draft and format legal documents including status certificates, disclosure packages, by-laws, rules, declarations, and related agreements.
Assist with condominium closings, post-registration work, and filing of amendments.
Register and retrieve documents through Teraview.
Liaise with clients, property managers, developers, municipalities, and the Land Registry Office.
Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems and manage calendars and deadlines.
Prepare correspondence and communicate with clients and stakeholders in a professional manner.
Requirements
Legal Assistant diploma or equivalent legal experience.
Minimum 2 years of experience in condominium law or real estate law in Ontario.
Experience with file management, title and subsearches, and legal document preparation.
Proficiency with Teraview and real estate procedures.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
