Our client, a leading Toronto law firm, is seeking an experienced Litigation Assistant to join their dynamic team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative and professional environment supporting a busy legal practice. The ideal candidate will bring strong administrative and organizational skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a keen attention to detail. Real estate experience and knowledge of expropriation law are considered assets.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide executive-level assistance including correspondence, document review, preparation, and compilation
- Manage lawyers’ calendars, emails, meetings, and conference calls
- Maintain electronic and paper filing systems and assist with invoicing
- Draft and format routine correspondence and legal documents
- Handle incoming calls on the main phone line and manage faxes as required
- Process dockets, expense reports, and invoices to clients
- Transcribe digital dictation as required
- Coordinate administrative tasks and collaborate with other assistants on projects
- Perform other related administrative duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Litigation Assistant in a law firm or similar environment
- Successful completion of a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk diploma program
- Strong proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with PC Law and/or NetDocuments (or similar DMS) an asset
- Knowledge of real estate, expropriation law, and litigation or tribunal proceedings considered advantageous (training provided for the right candidate)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a strong sense of urgency
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
