A leading Toronto law firm is seeking a Legal Assistant (2+ years) to support a busy environmental law practice. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with strong technical skills, a solid knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, and the ability to manage a fast-paced practice with accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
• Draft, edit, format, and revise correspondence, memoranda, and legal documents
• Organize and maintain electronic files in NetDocs (digital-first) and physical files as needed
• Maintain bring forwards and proactively support a team of lawyers
• Manage incoming calls, client communications, and scheduling of meetings, appointments, and conference calls
• Handle administrative duties including expense claims, billing, docketing, file openings/closings, cheque requisitions, scanning, photocopying, and booking services (meeting rooms, court reporters, webinars, travel, reservations, etc.)
• Update and maintain client/matter lists
• Track and register lawyers for LSO conferences, CPD programs, and events
• Prepare materials for speeches, conferences, and presentations
• Provide back-up support to other assistants and assist team members with administrative tasks as needed
• Perform additional duties consistent with the scope of the role
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of legal assistant experience (litigation or environmental law an asset)
• Strong working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
• Proficiency with MS Office and legal document management systems (NetDocs experience an asset)
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication, client service, and multitasking abilities
• Collaborative, adaptable, and professional team player
