Client Profile
Our client, a leading Canadian law firm, is seeking a highly experienced Real Estate Law Clerk with specialized expertise in mining and commercial real estate transactions. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex matters involving mining lands, title opinions, and large-scale transactions in a dynamic legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including mining land acquisitions and dispositions.
- Conduct and analyze searches using Teraview and the Mining Lands Administration System (MLAS).
- Navigate government regulations and registration procedures related to mining and real property law.
- Perform and review title and off-title searches; prepare detailed search summaries and resolve title deficiencies.
- Draft and prepare transaction documents, including closing documents, security registrations, title opinions, and memoranda.
- Handle title requisition letters and respond to requisitions.
- Order and negotiate title insurance policies for both owners and lenders.
- Attend closings and coordinate communication with clients, government bodies, and regulatory officials.
- Prepare comprehensive reporting letters and closing books.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior clerks as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years' experience as a Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk in Canadian law firms, with exposure to mining law.
- Law Clerk diploma or certification from a recognized Ontario program.
- Extensive experience preparing real estate transaction and closing documents, including e-registry and registry system documents.
- Knowledge of the Registry system is an asset.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Proficient in commercial real estate tools and applications, including Teranet/Teraview, OnLand, and FirstBase Solutions.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and web-based legal platforms.
