Client Profile
Our client, a reputable Toronto firm is currently looking for an Insurance Defence Law Clerk. This firm has an excellent culture and a lot of career development opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist lawyers with drafting documents such as pleadings, affidavits, motions, and various notices;
- Aid in trial preparation, pre-trial briefs, and hearings;
- Review and assist in file materials and drafting assessment;
- Assist with dockets and billing;
- Open, close, and manage legal files, such as requesting, indexing, and organizing documentary productions;
- Summarizing and briefing of medical documentation;
- Request, review and follow up on answers to undertakings;
- Summarize and review transcripts of examinations for discovery;
- Participate in claim analysis’s;
- Liaise professionally with all counsel, clients, insurance companies, and other legal professionals; and
- Assist with additional tasks as required.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as an Insurance Defence Law Clerk;
- Law Clerk Diploma from a recognized institution;
- A strong understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure;
- Excellent computer skills including Word, Outlook, and DMS;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; and
- Excellent work ethic and team-player attitude.
