Our client, a prominent law firm is currently looking for an Estate Clerk. This firm has an excellent culture and a lot of career development opportunities.
- Regional law firm specializing in; Business and Transactions; Commercial Real Estate and Development; Employment Law; Litigation and Dispute Resolution; Secured Lending and Enforcement; Tax; and Wills and Estates.
- Represents individuals, businesses and corporations on a local, regional and international level.
- Office conveniently located in Downtown Toronto!
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with lawyers on Estate Planning, Estate Administration, and Estate Litigation files;
- Organize and manage Estate Administration files;
- Prepare court documents for Applications for Certificates of Appointment of Estate Trustee and Estate Information Returns;
- Assist with Estate Litigation files, including preparing court documents and supporting litigation lawyers;
- Prepare, review and analyze Estate Accounts, documentation for Passing of Accounts and Estate Account summaries;
- Prepare written correspondence and liaise with Estate Trustees, Beneficiaries, Government Bodies, and Financial Institutions about ongoing Estate Administration matters;
- Prepare trust annual resolutions;
- Maintain Wills and Trusts databases and Wills vault;
- Attend client meetings, take instructions, and participate in discussions about Wills and Powers of Attorney, Estate Administration, Estate Accounts, and Estate Litigation;
- Conduct legal research;
- Direct written, oral and in-person communication with clients;
- Prepare Wills (including multiple Wills), Powers of Attorney, Trust agreements and all relevant correspondence relating thereto.
Requirements:
- Graduate of a Law Clerk Program with a minimum of 8 years’ of Wills and Estate Planning/Administration experience;
- Advanced PC Skills with Word and Excel;
- Has a strong desire to learn, grow and expand his or her skill set;
- Extensive knowledge of legal procedures;
- Strong mentorship and leadership abilities;
- Takes initiative and has the ability to use good judgment;
- Excellent organizational skills, able to meet timely deadlines and ensure appropriate response times; and,
- Strong attention to detail;
- Dedicated to providing awesome service with ability to manage multiple internal clients and be adaptable to the needs of each; and
- Excellent communication (written and oral) skills.
