Client Profile
Our client, a reputable Toronto firm is currently looking for a Commercial Litigation Law Clerk. This firm has an excellent culture and a lot of career development opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft pleadings and file court documents through the e-Civil filing portal;
- Prepare and revise legal documents, correspondence, and presentations;
- Compiling records and briefs as and when required;
- Manage and schedule lawyer’s calendar, appointments, and court dates;
- Organize and review client documents, identify missing materials based on pleadings and client-provided information, and prepare Affidavits of Documents;
- Schedule and coordinate examinations, issue notices of examinations, and draft client prep letters;
- Manage internal and external communications including calls, mail, faxes, and e-mails;
- Prepare mediation briefs, pre-trial briefs, and assist with trial preparation, including issuing summons and preparing joint books of documents;
- Open, close, and organize electronic and physical files;
- Additional administrative duties as needed.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in Commercial Litigation;
- Law Clerk or Legal Assistant Diploma an asset;
- Familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure and general court processes;
- Knowledge of Caselines;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, GhostPractice, ACL;
- Familiarity with Dropbox, Adobe, Docusign, Zoom, Caselines;
- Research experience with CanLii and/or Westlaw is an asset;
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure;
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal;
- Capable working under pressure while managing multiple priorities; and
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
